The village church of Staats is the Protestant church of the village of Staats , a current district of Stendal in Saxony-Anhalt . The community belongs to the parish of Neuendorf Monastery in the parish of Salzwedel of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Architecture and history

The simple brick church was built in 1880/1881 in the neo-Romanesque style . According to an inscription on the door, the church building was built under District Administrator Friedrich Wilhelm von Kröcher (1810-1891). To the west of the nave is the church tower with a square floor plan. On the east side there is a small polygonal choir . Buttresses are added to both the nave and the choir . Two-part tracery windows worked as a pointed arch are arranged between the pillars . The glazing is from the construction period and shows figurative representations.

The interior of the nave is spanned by a wooden ceiling, while the choir is vaulted. The furnishings are simple, preserved in their original style. Wood sculptor Gustav Kuntzsch , Wernigerode , created the pulpit . The interior painting that exists today was created in 1966. A large statue of the Virgin Mary in the tower is older and dates back to the beginning of the 16th century.
