description

Wain is located on the north-eastern, wooded edge of the district of Biberach and has another special feature that the Reformation was introduced in Wain in 1573 . After the Thirty Years War , Protestant religious refugees from Styria and Carinthia were also settled in the village. These exiles formed the bulk of the local population.

The Dehio handbook states that a certain Eitelfriedrich Knoll built the palace in the classicist style in 1780/81 according to plans by the Munich court architect Lorenzo Quaglio for Baron Benedikt von Hermann .

The main building is a two-storey plastered building with a medium risalit . The outbuildings are free-standing wing structures which were previously used as apartments for the families of the gardeners and hunters. There are also stables with outbuildings and an enclosed park. There is a two-flight staircase in the main building. The interiors were in the 18./19. Century changed. In the register of the State Monuments Office it is also noted that Johann Theobald von Herman had his permanent residence in Memmingen .

In the immediate vicinity of Wain Castle is the lost Wain Castle .
