The Wildprechtroda castle is in the district Wildprechtroda the city of Bad Salzungen in Wartburgkreis in Thuringia .

history

In 1432 the Lords of Buttlar were given a share of the Wildsprechtroda district. They moved into an old moated castle and called it the "Old Castle". The place and space were uncomfortable and unrepresentative, so that the new castle was built in the 16th century on the foundations of the moated castle in the Italian-inspired Renaissance style.

To the castle directly

It consists of three buildings around an atrium . At that time people still held on to the moat . In the GDR era , people were ignorant of the legacy of the nobility . It was blown up and torn down. In the local castle, the regime let resettlers from eastern Germany move in due to a lack of living space. Until the end of the GDR, 27 families lived in the castle.

In 1996 the Otto von Butler couple (Buttlar) bought back the house where they were born and began renovating. In 2011 the family moved into the castle themselves on the ground floor. The monument is not accessible to the public. Only the hall can be used for private celebrations.
