The castle Zell an der Ybbs is located in the village of Zell an der Ybbs on the right bank just above the Ybbsufer opposite the old town of Waidhofen an der Ybbs in Lower Austria . The castle is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The stately early baroque complex from the beginning of the 17th century was adapted in 1908 and 1912 and 2000/2002. The official and administrative building of the Gleiß manor was converted into a hotel in 1908 and 1912 according to plans by Miklas von Bukovics and Leopold Spreitzer. From 2000 to 2002 the existing building was adapted and a free-standing new hotel building with a multifunctional hall according to the plans of the architect Ernst Hoffmann was added.

The palace complex stands in a spacious green area, this is walled in neo-baroque style and has a representative portal.

The three-storey rectangular building under a three-part hipped roof with two extended attic storeys from the beginning of the 20th century has a seven-axis main front with a simple baroque stone structure. The presented early baroque tower has a wood-shingled onion helmet . On the ybbs side there is a two-storey porch with a guest hall.

The castle interior has consistently groined vault corridor, ground and upper floor rooms and coffered lunette tons with finely decorated plaster tape pads and rosettes and beamed ceilings.
