The Schlosskrug is a listed former inn in the Hundisburg district of the city of Haldensleben in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located at Magdeburger Straße 7, immediately south at the foot of Hundisburg Castle . A staircase leading up to the castle begins directly opposite the house.

Architecture and history

The two-storey building was built from 1750 to 1753 on behalf of the castle rulers. As a castle jug, it replaced the house opposite, albeit changed, which is still today. The facade of the plastered baroque building is designed with seven axes. The middle axis emerges as a flat mean risk . The entrance to the house is also located in it. The house is covered by a mansard roof . Structurally, the building corresponds to the Hundisburg rectory .

The original room layout with coffee, guest rooms and kitchen as well as ancillary rooms was preserved until 1951, but was then partially rebuilt. The garden on the south side of the house was used as a gastronomic outdoor garden in the past. The building is also sometimes referred to as the Burgkrug .

In the local register of monuments , the inn is registered as an architectural monument under registration number 094 50034 .

The castle jug is characteristic of the street scene and is an important cultural and historical testimony for restaurants and hotels from the 18th century.
