Schlumacherstrasse
The Schlumacherstraße is a street in Lübeck .
location
The approximately 100-meter-long Schlumacherstraße, which runs approximately in a north-south direction, is located in the south-eastern part of the old town island ( Johannis Quartier ). It connects two parallel Rippenstrasse , Fleischhauerstrasse and Hüxstrasse .
history
The street was first mentioned in a document in 1303, but at that time it had no proper name, just the designation Dwerstrate inter plateam hucorum et plateam carnificum (cross street between Hüxstraße and Fleischhauerstraße). In 1376 it was named Salunenmakerstrate , derived from the local weavers who made saloons . These were woolen blankets that were distortedly named after their place of origin, the French city of Châlons . 1388 is documented as a variant Tzillunenmakerstrate . The current name Schlumacherstrasse was officially established in 1852.
Schlumacherstraße was not affected by the destruction of the air raid of March 29, 1942 and therefore still shows a coherent picture of historical buildings. Marianne Bachmeier ran the Tipasa restaurant on Schlumacherstraße , which still exists under this name (2013).
