The narrow-gauge railway Bydgoszcz – Koronowo (Bromberg – Crone an der Brahe) was the most important stretch of the Bydgoszcz Kreisbahn .

course

The line began at the narrow-gauge station in Bydgoszcz (Bromberg) and ran northwards via Smukała (Mühlthal / Mühltal (Kr Bromberg); km 7.3), the beginning of the branch line towards Maksymilianowo , Morzewiec (Marthashausen / Martashausen; km 12.3), the Beginning of the branch line to Kasprowo - Wierzchucin Królewskie , and Gościeradz (Goscieradz / Schmiedenau; km 17.5), the beginning of a connecting line to the last-mentioned line, to the narrow-gauge railway station of Koronowo (Crone ad Brahe / Krone (Brahe) Kreisbahn; km 24.2) . Shortly before Koronowo the Brahe was crossed.

history

The line was opened on May 18, 1895 by the Bromberger Kreisbahn and represented the first connection of the town of Crone on the Brahe to the railway network. The normal gauge line from Tuchel was not put into operation until 1909-1914.

In the summer of 1914, three pairs of trains ran daily with a journey time of about one hour and forty minutes. After the First World War and the Treaty of Versailles , the route became Polish, and travel times soon dropped to an hour and twenty minutes on most trains. Through the use of railcars, travel times were reduced to just under an hour in some cases by the mid-1930s. These travel times were not reached again either under German occupation 1939–1945 or in post-war Poland.

In contrast to other 600-millimeter narrow-gauge railways, the line was not re-gauged to a wider gauge, but rather closed between Bydgoszcz and Morzewiec on September 30, 1969. The rest of the route was discontinued on July 1, 1991, after passenger traffic had probably ceased in 1969. A cycle path runs between Gościeradz and Koronowo and thus over the bridge at Koronowo.
