The Brda ( German Brahe ) is a river in the Polish provinces of Pomerania and Kujawy . It flows into the Vistula near Bydgoszcz ( German Bromberg ) . The Brda has a length of 238 km and drains a catchment area of approx. 4,630 km².
The river runs through the low mountain range of Kashubia and is very popular with canoeists ; the lower course is connected to the Noteć , which is part of the Oder river system , via the Bydgoski Canal .

The Brda rises in Western Pomerania in the Jezioro Smołowe ( Schmolow Lake ), which belongs to the municipality of Miastko ( Rummelsburg , in the former Rummelsburg i. Pom. ) And is under nature protection, near the village of Lubkowo ( Georgendorf ), northeast of Miastko, and then flows through a chain of small lakes first to the south, then to the east. Behind Pietrzykowo ( Groß Peterkau, Koczała municipality ) it turns south and then flows a good 20 kilometers south, passing Nowa Brda ( Neubraa, Przechlewo municipality ). After the Ruda ( Hammerfließ ) flows in from the right (west) , the Brahe flows into the Jezioro Szczytno Wielkie ( Great Ziethener See ), which it leaves again in an easterly direction.
After a sharp bend to the north, the Lipczynka ( Lepczin ) joins from the left (west) , after which it continues in an easterly direction. After less than ten kilometers, the Brda flows into the Jezioro Charzykowskie ( Müskendorfer Lake ) and leaves it in a northerly direction. After about one kilometer the Jezioro Karsińskie ( Karschinsee ) follows, into which the Chocina ( Chotzen ) flows from the left (west) . After leaving the lake, the Brda turns to the southeast, with the widely ramified Zbrzyca ( syringe ) flowing from the left (north) and flowing through the Jezioro Dybrzyk .
