The Poznań – Bydgoszcz (Poznan – Bydgoszcz) railway is a railway line in the Polish Voivodeships of Greater Poland and Kujawy-Pomerania that is partly still operated for passenger traffic, partly only for freight traffic and partly closed .

Course and condition

The line begins at Poznań Wschód station (Glowno / Posen Ost) on the Warsaw – Poznan railway , which is also the start of the Poznań – Thorn line and was the former Schrodaer Kreisbahn , and runs north-east via Murowana-Goślina (Murowana-Goslin / Goslin; km 18.848), Sława Wielkopolska (Deutschfeld / Deutschfeldhof; km 30.103), the end point of the Gniezno – Sława Wielkopolska and Skoki (Schokken; km 34.827), the former end point of the Janowiec Wielkopolski – Skoki , to Wągrowiec ( Wongrowitz / Eichenbrück; km 51.375) on the disused Inowrocław – Drawski Młyn railway line . From here it runs north to Gołańcz (Gollantsch / Schwertburg; km 70.904), the end point of the still passable and serviced section and the earlier start of the Gołańcz – Chodzież railway line , from here eastwards via Kcynia (Exin; km 85.863), the junction station with the The Oleśnica – Chojnice railway line to Szubin (Schubin / Altburgund; km 103.408), the former terminus of the Żnin – Szubin railway line , and from there north-east to the island station Bydgoszcz Główna ( Bydgoszcz Główna railway station; km 127.800) on the Chorzów – Tczew and Kutno – Piła lines .

The line is single-track and not electrified. It can be used by railcars between Poznan and Wągrowiec at 120 km / h, to Gołańcz at 70 km / h and from Szubin at 20 km / h. Passenger trains hauled by locomotives are only allowed to travel 50 km / h between Wągrowiec and Gołańcz and freight trains between Poznan and Wągrowiec only 70 km / h and between Wągrowiec and Gołańcz only 40 km / h. The route between Gołańcz and Szubin is impassable.

history

As the first section of the branch line, the Prussian State Railways opened the Schubin - Bromberg section on October 1, 1895, along with the continuation Znin - Schubin . Next, on October 1, 1905, the Poznan - Schokken section was opened. The intermediate piece followed on October 1, 1908.

In 1914, the timetable saw four continuous pairs of trains, one Wongrowitz-Bromberg, one Exin -Bromberg, a Posen-Schokken train only running on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, a Schokken-Posen train only running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and one only in the nights on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday before the train.

Due to the Versailles Treaty , the line came to Poland after the First World War .

In 2003/4 the passenger service Gollantsch –Bromberg was discontinued. In 2009 the Gollantsch – Schubin section was closed.

In 2011, the Posen – Wongrowitz section was modernized with funds from the European Union .

Twenty pairs of trains run between Posen and Wongrowitz, four of them to and from Gollantsch.

The resumption of passenger traffic in the remaining section is planned.
