The railway line Poznań-Toruń or Posen-Thorn connects Poznan , the capital of the Polish Province Greater Poland with Torun (Thorn) , the parliamentary seat of the Polish Kujawsko-Pomerania . It is two-pronged and electrified.

Course and state of development

The line begins at Poznań Wschód station (Glowno / Posen Ost) on the Warszawa – Poznań railway line , which is also the start of the Poznań – Bydgoszcz railway line , and runs northeast via Kobylnica (Kobelnitz; km 7.727), the end point of the Poznań Krzesiny – Kobylnica railway line , the long-distance railway stations Gniezno (Gnesen; km 44.699) on the Oleśnica – Chojnice railway line , the beginning of the former Witkowo , Mogilno (Mogilno; km 74.382), a former junction where the routes to Barcin and Orchowo began, and the Inowrocław – Mogilno railway line ended, and Inowrocław (Inowrazlaw / Hohensalza; km 100.955) on the Chorzów – Tczew railway to Toruń Główny station (Thorn Hbf; km 134.706) on the Kutno – Piła railway . Line 353 continues with the Toruń – Chernyakhovsk railway .

The line is double-tracked throughout and electrified with 3000 volts DC. For passenger trains, the maximum speed up to Inowrocław is 100 to 150 kilometers per hour, after that 100 to 120. With 150, the limit is between the kilometer points 8.800 / 11.950 (opposite track) and 20.700, between the kilometer points 22.300 and 43.900, 47.400 and 67.100, 74.718 and 88.400 and finally be driven between kilometers 91.200 and 96.500. Freight trains are allowed to run between seventy and one hundred.

history

The line between the then Prussian cities of Posen and Thorn was initially completed on a single track by the Upper Silesian Railway Company . The opening of the section from Poznan to Inowrazlaw and on to Bromberg took place on May 26, 1872, on July 1, 1873 the branching line from Inowrazlaw to Thorn was opened. When the company was taken over by the Prussian state in 1886, the line was transferred to the Prussian State Railways , which they expanded to double-track by 1888. After the First World War , the line was in Poland and was operated by the Polish State Railways. The route formed a section of the so-called corridor traffic to and from East Prussia . After the line had been operated by the Deutsche Reichsbahn during the Second World War , it was back in Poland after 1945.

The section from Poznań to Inowrocław was electrified in 1976 and the further section to Toruń in 1983.
