The Schmidt Glacier is a 1.1 km long glacier in the west of the island of Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It flows west of the Baudissin Glacier between Mount Drygalski and the North West Cornice ridge .
Participants in the German Gauss expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of Erich von Drygalski carried out a rough mapping in 1902. Drygalski named him after the ministerial official Dr. J. Schmidt for assisting the government in soliciting support for the expedition.
