Schnakerode

Schnakerode , also called Stettlein Arnstein , is a desert immediately east of Harkerode in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany. Probably the same time as the castle Arnstein resulting clearing settlement whose inhabitants cives were called, the former, younger suspects on the grounds of Knigge'schen Guts in Harkerode.

Schnakerode is a clearing settlement from the 9th or 10th century, which was probably built at the same time as the first buildings at Arnstein Castle.

In 1328 a Mr. Johann, pastor of a church of Our Lady below the Arnstein, is mentioned. This church belonging to the settlement was mentioned several times later. In 1329, Count Burckart von Falkenstein donated a pond below the Schalkenburg to the Church of Our Lady in the town of Arnstein with the consent of his mother Liutgart .

On July 13, 1387, the Counts of Regenstein sold the Castle and the Arnstein estate to the Counts of Mansfeld . Among them, dat stedeken to Snackerode is mentioned in the first place . Later, in 1486, a Stetchin zu Snackenrode is mentioned in the feudal letter from Duke Albrecht of Saxony for the Counts of Mansfeld over the Arnstein rule.

Between 1522 and 1586 Count Albrecht von Mansfeld-Arnstein built a school from the Church of Our Lady in the old settlement, together with a schoolmaster's apartment to teach the boys of the Arnstein office . The school operation ended as early as 1566 when the schoolmasters died of the plague . Due to the danger of wandering wolves for the students at the time, school operations were not resumed later.
