Text and music

Moses Pelham, 2018

The text of Schnaps für alle is made up of three stanzas with a simple rhyme structure, with the rap being performed in the Frankfurt dialect typical of Moses Pelham . The content is a monologue that the singer addresses to a person who cannot be recognized by the listener. It is not clear whether this is an actual person or the singer himself. At the beginning of the song, the protagonist describes himself as “the bastard in search of light”. Over the lines he tries to show his position on life and drinking and each of the first two stanzas ends with the words "Schnaps für alle". The third stanza is more dramatic in its style and ends in the (self) insult: "Dude, don't bother me, you hurt me, fuck you, me and the crazy idea".

The song is introduced by a piano sequence and, after the intro, performed as spoken chant in a calm rap style. The accompaniment is a subtle piano melody and is supported by the background vocals of the singer Linda Carriere , who does not sing words, but only a sequence of notes and thus takes on the function of another melody instrument.
