Schneider Electric Motion Deutschland GmbH , formerly Berger Lahr , was a German subsidiary of Schneider Electric that developed and produced drive technology solutions for mechanical engineering . The company was the world market leader in the manufacture of compact drives.

history

In 1941, Gerhard Berger founded the Berger Lahr company. The first products are measuring instruments , control devices and relays . In 1958 the first Berger Lahr stepper motor was built. The company expanded its production area in 1976 to include the development and manufacture of electronics. In 1988 Berger Lahr was taken over by the Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft and the products were marketed under the name SIG positec . In 1989 the company introduced the linear motion division, producing linear axes and linear robots.

In 1999 the integrated drives IclA were launched on the market.

In 2000 Schneider Electric took over the company, with the operation remaining independent. In 2008, Berger Lahr renamed Schneider Electric Motion Deutschland GmbH . In September 2013 the company was merged with Schneider Electric Automation GmbH in Marktheidenfeld .
