Practice use

The Rapid Response Group Sanitätsdienst (SEG-San), more rarely also called the Rapid Response Group Treatment (SEG-Beh), takes over injured people who have been rescued from a damaged area by the technical rescue service ( fire brigades , THW ). She performs the first aid on the injured person's trays . It sets up central treatment stations , provides emergency medical care there and ensures that the patients are fit for transport or, if necessary, is used directly in the damaged area for sighting / triage and / or for rescue / care of the patient. If necessary, she also supports the Rapid Response Group with her material and helpers.

In the unit there are paramedics of different qualification levels and possibly also doctors ; they may be supported by other helpers such as technicians (for power supply etc.).

Depending on the size of the unit and the incident picture, different amounts of tents , bandages and other medical equipment are carried.

Some SEG medical services carry out the transport of patients with their ambulance or emergency ambulance (rarely with an ambulance ). However, there are also rapid deployment groups without transport tasks. The central vehicle of the SEG-San used to be a medical troop car ; today this role is usually taken over by a medical equipment trolley with which helpers and material are transported.

As a rule, a SEG-San should be ready for use no later than 15-30 minutes after the alarm.
