The medical equipment vehicle ( GW-San ) is an emergency vehicle in the disaster control of various aid organizations , which has loaded material for the construction and operation of a treatment center and / or carries extensive material in order to be able to provide effective help directly in the damaged area.

Designations

More and more often, the designation GW-San is also accompanied by a number (e.g. GW-San 25 or GW-San 50), which should provide information about how many injured / sick people this vehicle has enough medical and logistical information Has material (for example, casualty cards for registration) ready to ensure their care. This means that you can roughly determine the use value based on the designation alone. Occasionally, alternative names appear such as medical service equipment trolleys, equipment trolleys for mass casualties (GW-MANV), rescue equipment trolleys (GW-Rett) or rescue equipment vehicles (GW-RD). As a rule, however, these designations are not found in official federal or state documents.

Equipment and function

The medical equipment trolleys can be found in more and more aid organizations . So far there has been no standardization for loading, but in addition to basic technical equipment such as power generators, lamps, barrier material and tools, there is also considerable medical equipment such as rescue equipment ( scoop stretchers , vacuum mattresses , spineboards or folding stretchers), filled emergency cases or backpacks, large amounts of oxygen , Ventilators , tents, tent material, heaters and treatment boxes are available so that these vehicles can be used optimally in the event of a mass casualty (MANV) or for larger medical security services. In most cases - if available - the GW-San also represent the central unit for the treatment center or the operation of a patient tray. In addition, the medical equipment trolleys usually form the central backbone of the emergency medical service groups .

standardization

The GW-San is not standardized nationwide according to DIN . However, numerous countries have issued building guidelines or technical directives, which is equivalent to country-specific standardization. In addition, a data sheet from the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief has been in existence for several years .

Medical equipment trolley of the Medical Task Force Kassel

The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Aid (BBK) has standardized the medical equipment trolley (GW-San). The GW-San is of particular importance for the Medical Task Force (MTF). It is built on a MAN chassis type TGL 10.220 4x2 BB, has a permissible total weight of 10 tons, six seats and can therefore accommodate a squadron . He carries extensive equipment for a medical or treatment area, including a 40 m² rapid deployment tent. In addition, the vehicle has lighting, a tent heater and a portable power generator on board. For medical care, ventilators, defibrillators , bandages, infusions, stretchers , life boards, material for splinting fractures and a vacuum mattress are carried along. A first sample vehicle was delivered in 2011 by the Wietmarscher Ambulanz- und Sonderfahrzeug GmbH (WAS) company. Another 140 copies followed by 2014.

Baden-Württemberg

According to the technical instructions of the state of Baden-Württemberg (BW), the so-called GW-San BW is a mixed system of boxes for the mass casualty of injured persons (MANV) and emergency backpacks in order to be able to operate a patient tray or part of a BHP 25. 83 vehicles were purchased in 2010 and replace the state medical troop vehicles and the federal medical troop vehicles . The vehicle itself is a 7.49 t heavy vehicle with a relay cabin and tail lift. It was shown for the first time at Interschutz 2010 and is being manufactured by the Ewers-Dönges bidding group. 82 vehicles are used in the country's operational units, one vehicle was sent to the “special situations support unit” (UE special situations). In 2013, the state-owned vehicles were upgraded with a second air tent and accessories for the heating in order to be able to provide additional material for a treatment center.

Hesse

The state of Hesse has standardized a medical equipment vehicle, which has six seats and a tail lift. It has a gross vehicle weight of 7 tons. Measured against the injured person's cards, it is designed for up to 20 injured persons. In addition, there are three emergency rucksacks for adults, one emergency rucksack for children, 10 immobilization collars , three defibrillators with EKG displays, various bandages , hygiene equipment, one loaded trolley each for a tent (including a rapid deployment tent and a tent heater) and a power generator with accessories.

North Rhine-Westphalia

In North Rhine-Westphalia there is a state building guideline. The GW-San is a state-owned disaster control vehicle that is integrated into the emergency units of the aid organizations. The procurements delivered so far are an MB Sprinter with box body and corresponding equipment. The purpose is to support the emergency services in setting up and operating a patient cradle. Together with the "roll-off container MANV" (AB-MANV) and the associated personnel, two operational units with their GW-San 25 can also form a treatment station 50 according to the specifications issued by the Ministry of the Interior in North Rhine-Westphalia for so-called "regional help".

Rhineland-Palatinate

In Rhineland-Palatinate , the medical equipment trolley is described in the Technical Guideline No. 4 of May 6, 2008 of the Ministry of the Interior and for Sport. In this Directive the crew (will relay 1/5), determined the technical requirements (chassis, paint, lettering and expansion) and the load. An MZF 2 serves as the vehicle base .

Saarland

In 2008 and 2009, a total of four “rescue service equipment vehicles” (GW-Rett) were stationed at strategically favorable rescue stations in Saarland. The vehicles are equipped with technical and medical equipment, which makes it possible to set up and operate a treatment center for up to 25 injured persons (BHP 25) in the immediate vicinity of the damage site within a short period of time. The concept is supplemented by an existing roll-off container "AB-MANV" (BHP 50), which is stationed at the Saarbrücken professional fire brigade and can be used centrally from the state capital throughout the Saarland. The equipment trolleys are alerted by the integrated control center of Saarland via digital radio receiver.

Saxony

Similar to other federal states, the Free State of Saxony also designed a medical equipment vehicle for the emergency trains in the state similar to the emergency units . The vehicle is a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of 7 tons and has a relay cabin. The vehicle is designed with a mixed system: it has material that can be used immediately, such as emergency backpacks, but also material in boxes that can be used to operate a treatment center. The 30 vehicles are deployed in the state of Saxony at the locations of the medical groups and are operated by the aid organizations.
