Chocolate Shop Theater
The Schoko-Laden-Theater in Riegersburg in Styria is a museum that vividly presents the chain of chocolate production from cocoa beans to consumption during operation and offers the opportunity for tasting.
The museum was opened in 2007 together with a new factory in Bergl (Riegersburg). It is located in Bergl 56 and is open all year round except on Sundays and public holidays. It is operated by the Zotter chocolate factory and has 265,000 visitors annually.
The founder is the Graz chocolatier Josef Zotter , who produces hand-scooped chocolate exclusively in organic and fair quality. After a cinematic introduction, the museum visit essentially consists of an extensive tasting tour with around 180 types of chocolate. Since Zotter carries out all processing steps from the cocoa bean to the finished product itself, the museum can show the entire production process.
Connected to the chocolate shop theater is the "Edible Zoo", in which farm animals can be visited in a species-appropriate manner and their products can be tasted.
