Scholander Island is an island in the Biscoe Islands archipelago off the west coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 2.5 km east of Watkins Island .
Aerial photographs of the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition from 1956 to 1957 were used to map them. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the Swedish biologist Per Fredrik Scholander (1905–1980), who had dealt with the metabolism under cold conditions.
