The Schopfmgenau ( Lophocebus aterrimus ) is a species of primate from the family of vervet monkeys (Cercopithecidae).
features
Schopfmdaten are relatively slender primates with long limbs and a long tail. The fur is rough and colored black. The name-giving feature is the high, erect head of hair, on the cheeks they have long, curved, gray-colored hair. In contrast to the closely related mantle, they have no longer hair on their shoulders . They reach a head body length of 40 to 62 centimeters and a tail length of 55 to 85 centimeters. The weight is usually 6 to 8 kilograms, with the males being slightly larger and heavier than the females.
distribution and habitat
Schopfm indications occur only in the Democratic Republic of the Congo . The Congo River forms the northern limit of its range, to the north of which lives the mantle indication. Their habitat is primarily tropical rainforests . According to the IUCN , the species is " near threatened ".

Way of life
These primates are diurnal tree dwellers that rarely come to the ground. They live in small groups of around 15 animals made up of one or more males, numerous females and their offspring. With loud screams they draw the attention of other groups to their territory. They feed mainly on fruits, nuts and small animals.
Systematics
The Schopfm Detail is classified in the genus of the Black Meadows ( Lophocebus ), which, according to recent research, is not particularly closely related to the Weißlid Mangaben ( Cercocebus ). In the past, it was often combined into one species with the mantle indication .
The south-western populations of the Schopfm Details are now considered to be Opdenbosch Mangabe as a separate species, but are sometimes only classified as their subspecies.
