Schröter is an impact crater on the front of the moon in the level of the Sinus Aestuum , north of the Sömmering crater and southwest of Bode . Except for the remains of the southwest and eastern crater wall, the crater is almost completely covered by the lavas of the Mare plain.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Johann Hieronymus Schroeter .
