Schroeder Race Cars

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schroeder was an American chassis manufacturer in monoposto racing cars in the 1950s.

Schroeder was one of the racing car manufacturers who produced vehicles for the AAA National series - comparable to today's Indy Car series - in the 1950s . In 1951, the cars - powered by an Offenhauser engine - were used for the first time in the Indianapolis 500 mile race . The cars were driven by Bobby Ball and Duke Dinsmore . Ball reached fifth place overall in the race. Since the 500-mile race was part of the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960 , Ball also scored two points in the drivers' championship. Schroeder is also often mentioned as a designer in Formula 1 team statistics. However, the constructors' cup has only existed in this racing series since 1958; until then no points were officially awarded to teams.

Schroeder was active in Indianapolis until 1955. Jimmy Bryan was fourteenth in the final ranking in 1953. Andy Linden and Len Duncan 1954, as well as Keith Andrews 1955, were not included in the ranking after failures.
