The Schrott Wetzel GmbH is a German company based in Mannheim. It was founded in the 1950s and is owned by the brothers Henryk Wetzel, Klaus Wetzel and Reiner Wetzel.
With a turnover of 185 million euros, Schrott Wetzel is one of the largest German scrap dealers, collectors and processors. Around 1.0 million tons of metal are moved every year (as of 2014). The company has 185 employees at seven locations, the headquarters in Mannheim as well as in Frankfurt am Main , Karlsruhe , Elstertrebnitz , Roßlau , Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf near Berlin and Ghent (Belgium). The company attracted media attention when its industrial demolition department demolished, transported and shredded the 20,000-ton steel frame of the Palace of the Republic in Berlin.
