School book of the year

Textbook of the Year is a literature prize that is awarded annually by the Georg Eckert Institute . The award is under the patronage of the Conference of Ministers of Education .

Award

The Georg Eckert Institute, together with the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the didacta Association, has been honoring publishers for the development and implementation of innovative textbook concepts since 2012 .

The prize is awarded annually alternately to books for primary school , secondary level I and secondary level II in the categories language, society and STEM .

Textbooks can be suggested by anyone. An expert jury headed by Eckhardt Fuchs selects the winners from all the proposals.

¹ In 2019, none of the submitted works in the MINT category convinced the jury and no award was given.

outlook

It is planned to further develop the price in the future. For example, there are considerations to include students in the jury or to focus even more on digital add-ons or design.
