The Schulenberg is a wooded hill south of the old town of Hattingen . The height is over 160 m normal height zero .

The Schulenburg restaurant (1903), the Hattingen Bismarck tower (1901) and the Schulenberg Memorial (1927) are located on the hill . The 195 meter long Schulenberg tunnel (1883) crosses under the mountain . Geologically, the mountain belongs to the Rhenish Slate Mountains ; the layers of carbon emerge here. In the south is the Heierbergsbach (Wodantal), in the east the Sprockhöveler Bach .
