Bern School Museum in Köniz
The Bern School Museum is located in the Haberhuus on the castle grounds of the municipality of Köniz , where the municipality of Köniz has set up a cultural and meeting place. In addition to the museum, the site includes a church, the community's wedding room, a gallery, the music school and a restaurant.
The Bern School Museum was created on the initiative of the teacher Kurt Hofer in Köniz. Over the years he collected materials to preserve the school's cultural heritage. The “collecting, viewing, preserving, cataloging, making available for research work and exhibiting teaching materials, teaching concepts, books, illustrative materials” began in 1995. In March 2003, the association “Pro Schulmuseum Bern” was founded and in September 2007 the foundation “ School Museum Bern in Köniz ”.
Over the years, over 25,000 objects from five centuries have come together. The aim of the association and the resulting foundation was to create a school museum . The Bern School Museum was opened on April 26, 2008. In addition to a historical classroom , temporary exhibitions are shown.
