The School Foundation of the Archdiocese of Freiburg was founded in 1988 by Archbishop Oskar Saier as a church foundation under public law .

The foundation supports all Catholic secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Freiburg with the exception of the St. Blasien college . All schools of the school foundation are officially recognized according to the Baden-Württemberg law on independent schools and lead to the corresponding qualifications .

The school foundation sees itself in the tradition of church engagement in the education and upbringing of children and young people. She describes "the school community as an ideal field to practice solidarity and to experience solidarity" and "social sensitivity or common sense" as an important educational goal. “Against the background of the biblical Christian image of God and man”, the adolescents should “be enabled to come of age and actively participate in shaping society and the church” in their schools.

The school foundation is headed by Dietfried Scherer . The office is located in Freiburg's old town. The managing director is Andrea Mayer.
