history

The St. Paulusheim was originally founded by the German-speaking Pallottines as a boarding school for boys. It goes back to a boarding school in the Italian town of Masio near Alessandria , which the Pallottines had to leave in 1915 due to the war. Their way led to the former home of the headmaster in Bruchsal. After temporary accommodation in a restaurant, the building on the Klosterberg, built according to a design by the architect Hans Herkommer , was inaugurated in 1922 . During the Second World War, the school was closed by the National Socialists, but was then the first school in North Baden to start teaching again. Due to the lack of demand, the boarding school was closed in the 1980s, but the high school was expanded. Girls were accepted for the first time in 1974 and since 1994 Protestant students have also been able to attend grammar school. With the 2012/2013 school year, a new language profile with Spanish and French and a natural science profile with NwT as a core subject were introduced. The St. Paulusheim cooperates with the nearby Schönborn-Gymnasium for Greek lessons as well as some upper-level courses.
