Martin Juritsch

Martin Juritsch SAC (born September 19, 1928 in Filipowa in Vojvodina ; † August 4, 1999 in Bruchsal ) was a German Catholic priest .

Life

Juritsch was the son of Danube Swabia and came to Bruchsal at the age of 11. There he graduated from high school in 1949 and entered the Pallottines as a novice . Until his ordination in 1955 he studied philosophy and theology at the religious college in Vallendar , the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) and the University of Freiburg (Switzerland) , where he became a member of the Catholic student union Carolingia-Friborg in the KV .

After receiving his doctorate in 1960, Juritsch became professor at the Philosophical College of Pallottines in Untermerzbach , and in 1972 he was elected Provincial of the southern German Pallottine Province in Friedberg near Augsburg. In 1983 he was elected general rector ( superior general ) of the Pallottines in Rome and re-elected in 1989. In 1992 he asked for a childbirth for health reasons and then took up residence in Germany again.

As a professor, Juritsch had a decisive influence on his Pallottine students. As a provincial in the diocese of Augsburg he worked closely with laypeople and was a supporter of charismatic community renewal.
