history
The Konrad-Adenauer-Realschule was founded in 1972. The fact that the Realschule was founded so late in comparison with the local high schools was due to the fact that there were already Realschulen in the villages of Herxheim and Edenkoben in the Landau catchment area .
Until 1974 the school was housed under the name Realschule Landau in a late classicist building on the Alter Meßplatz in Landau, but then moved under a new name to the newly built school center. At that time, the school center was the sole location of the secondary school and also the most modern school building in Landau.
The building has been rebuilt since April 2007, with the floors, walls, windows, cupboards etc. of the classrooms and the specialist halls for biology, chemistry, physics being renovated, the auditorium being enlarged and the exterior facades and shutters being renewed. At the end of 2006 the sports halls were also renovated. All-day school was introduced in the 2008/2009 school year.
Lessons and everyday school life
In the orientation level , the pupils are taught in addition to the standard curriculum of the Realschule in the subject "Information technology basic education". This subject teaches how to use the computer. Up until the school year 2004 it was the case that instead of ITG, students were taught "Extended English Lessons". Conventional grades were dispensed with in the EEU and more emphasis was placed on free speech.
In grades 7 and 8 it is possible to bilingual teaching of the subject geography to obtain.

Development Assistance
The Konrad-Adenauer-Realschule has a sponsorship school in Kigali , Rwanda , which, based on this development sponsorship, bears the old name of the Federal Chancellor Adenauer School as a nickname. Every year a fundraising campaign takes place under the motto "Run for Rwanda" to provide financial support for this sponsorship school. The students collect sponsors independently and then receive a predetermined amount from the sponsors for each kilometer run. Brigitte Wolf is the organizer and coordinator of the sponsorship.
