Shush ( Persian شوش) is a city in Khuzestan Province in southwest Iran . In 2006, Schusch had an extrapolated 53,897 inhabitants. The population consists mainly of Bakhtiars and Lurs .
The city has a station on the Trans-Iranian Railway .
It is the successor to the historic city of Susa .
