The protected area Wonga-Wongué ( French réserve présidentielle de Wonga-Wongué , also Wongha Wonghé ) is a nature reserve in central African Gabon between the state capital Libreville and the southern Port-Gentil in the provinces of Estuaire , Ogooué-Maritime and a small part of Moyen- Ogooué . It is located 100 km south of the equator and is 3850 km² in size. Its height above sea level is up to 1500 m, the annual precipitation is about 2000 mm.

Apart from the extensive coastal savannah, the area is covered over long stretches of classic tropical rainforest .

In addition to gorillas , chimpanzees , buffalo , duckers and sitatungas , elephants are said to be found here .
