The Schwaben was a launch of the Njassa-Schiffahrts-Gesellschaft on Lake Victoria in the colony of German East Africa .

history

The Schwaben was built in Hamburg in 1907 . It was a pinasse that was used by the Nyassa Shipping Company for the transport of freight and people and as a tug on Lake Victoria.

When the First World War broke out in August 1914 , the Swabians were taken over by the command of the protection forces.

When the German position on Lake Victoria could no longer be held, the Swabians and other ships were sunk in Neu-Hanau on July 15, 1916 so as not to fall into enemy hands.

The British raised the Swabians . Her further fate is not known.
