Schwanenhaus (border crossing)

Border crossing and customs office Schwanenhaus (1963)

Schwanenhaus refers to the German side of the former border crossing between Germany near Nettetal in the district of Viersen and the Netherlands in the province of Limburg near Venlo . On the Dutch side of the border it is officially called “Keulse Barrière”. Until April 2012, the BAB 61 motorway on the left bank of the Rhine ended shortly before the border crossing. This was extended and has since been connected to the Dutch national road A74 in the direction of the Tiglia motorway junction, where it merges into the A73 . The former border crossing point can now be reached via junction no. 1 of the BAB 61 'Nettetal-West / Venlo-Ost'. There is still an office of the main customs office in Krefeld and the toll administration .
