Black Bear (Mountain) (Saxony)
Black bear (mountain)

With Black bear a wooded mountain range in the west is Erzgebirge referred. It is located between the Johanngeorgenstadt districts of Steinbach and Henneberg and the border with the Czech Republic .

The geological peculiarity of the area is a long corridor of porphyry micro- granite on a slate subsoil . There are no buildings on the mountain or on its slopes. On the other hand, there are many paths through the forest area that are named after their use, such as the Butterweg, on which women brought agricultural products from Bohemia to the Saxon Ore Mountains in centuries past, the Eisenstraße or the Lorenzweg, which led to an ore mine St. Lorenz . Raised moor areas , tree moors and wet plateaus have been mapped around the Black Bear. The predominant trees are spruce and fir ; the red beeches and maples documented in the 16th century , on the other hand, are hardly to be found due to their intensive use. The Kleiner Kranichsee is located south of the Black Bear .
