The black grave beetle ( Pterostichus aethiops ) is a type of beetle from the family of ground beetles (Carabidae).
features
The black grave beetle has a body length of 11.5 to 15.0 millimeters. Like most of the Central European species of the genus Pterostichus , this species is solid black. The pronotum basal pits are not limited to the outside by a longitudinal fold. The third lumbar-cover interval usually has three pore points.
distribution and habitat
The distribution area of the species extends over Central and Eastern Europe. The black burial beetle lives in moist deciduous and mixed forests in the montane and subalpine zone. It is mostly found under the bark and is not uncommon.
