The Black Lake near Schlemmin is located near Bützow west of Schlemmin ( Bernitt municipality ) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It is part of the nature reserve Hohe Burg and Schwarzer See . The 110 hectare nature reserve is located in the Ice Age terminal moraine landscape . The lake is one to two meters deep, 2.5 hectares in size and 108 m above sea level. NHN the highest lake in Mecklenburg. The water is completely surrounded by beech forests. Rare and endangered plant species such as round-leaved sundew can be found in the lake's 15 hectare silting moorand snakebear lob . In addition, the area offers habitat for marsh frogs , grass snakes , forest lizards , black woodpeckers , Treecreeper , breasted Flycatcher , badgers and numerous other species.
