Schwarzes Kreuz Christliche Straffälligenhilfe eV is a registered association in Germany with headquarters in Celle , which offers support to prisoners and their relatives.
history
The association was founded on January 9, 1925 by Johannes Muntau , prison director in Celle and a member of the Reichstag from 1930 to 1932 . As early as 1923, the association began its work as a Christian prisoner aid with “lay helpers” when it gained access to the 112 prisons that were under Muntau. In April 1999 the Black Cross Association received its current name. It has around 460 volunteers and members nationwide. The association is affiliated to the Diakonisches Werk and a member of the Evangelical Conference for Criminal Assistance . He explicitly refers to the gospel in his work . Accordingly, the association combines its social work with a missionary intention.
The chairman has been Helge Bonacker, consultant at the employment agency, since 2015. The managing director is Pastor Otfried Junk.
job
The help consists of letters and visits, pastoral care and the implementation of events in the prisons as well as practical help in life. For example, the association supports those affected with rehabilitation after serving their prison sentence ( looking for accommodation, social contacts, etc.).
