Black Forest is a part of the municipality Luisenthal in the district of Gotha in Thuringia .

history

Black Forest lies at the foot of the Swarcwalde castrum ( Black Forest Castle ), also called Käfernburg. It is one of the older settlements in the Thuringian Forest . The place was mentioned in a document as early as 930 as a forest Nazi and shares the early history of ownership of the Käfernburg, which was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . In the 14th century there were five cutting mills on site . In 1535 the place became the seat of the Black Forest Office , which included eight places and settlements. In 1642 the official seat was moved to Zella St. Blasii . On July 1, 1950, the Black Forest was incorporated into Stutzhaus . On March 1, 1951, this community was named Luisenthal . Major parts of the village sank into the floods of the reservoir due to the construction of the Ohra Dam.
