The Schweingartensee is a lake in the municipality of Carpin in the Mecklenburg Lake District . It is traversed by the almost 22 km long raft ditch , a small river that flows into the Woblitzsee of the Havel from the east . The lake is very well structured. There is a wider southern part, divided by three peninsulas, and a narrower northern part with a larger island in the north. The lake has a north-south extension of about 2200 meters and a maximum west-east extension of about 600 meters. The lakeshore and the surrounding area are wooded. The lake is located in the eastern part of the Müritz National Park . The surrounding heights reach 124.2 m above sea level with the Serrahn mountains . NHN .
The name of the lake can be derived from the pig fattening ( Hutung ) that used to be common here in the woods around the lake.
Due to a regulating increase in the water level (in 1994), the lake is surrounded by dead trees, some of which have sunk into the water, which clearly contributes to its picturesque and "wild" appeal.
