The Schweitzer Glacier is a glacier on the Luitpold coast of the East Antarctic Coatsland . It flows along the north side of the Littlewood Nunatak and east of the Penck Glacier in a westerly direction to Vahsel Bay . The Lerchenfeld Glacier merges with the southern flank of the Schweitzer Glacier.
The glacier was discovered during the Second German Antarctic Expedition (1911–1912) under the direction of Wilhelm Filchner . Filchner named the glacier after the German publicist, journalist and travel writer Georg Schweitzer (1850-1940), chairman of the expedition committee.
