The 11th Swiss Futsal Championship began on September 17, 2016 and ended on March 11, 2017.
The FC Silva rose to the SFPL for the first time and replaced the relegated FC Uetendorf. Lugano Pro Futsal withdrew shortly before the start of the season for financial reasons. Since this happened at short notice, no team could replace Lugano. Thus, the relegated party was determined before the start of the season.
Newcomer Silva was able to secure first place in the qualification. In the final, however, the Vaudois had to admit defeat Futsal Minerva . In front of 2,000 spectators in the Weissenstein sports hall in Bern, Futsal Minerva prevailed 5-2 and rose to become the sole record champion with the third title in the club's history.
After a long time a Swiss national player was able to win the top scorer's crown again. Evangelos Marcoyannakis from Mobulu Futsal Uni Bern scored 24 times but shared the crown with Tiago Jose Oliveira from runner-up FC Silva.
