There were a total of 9 participants at the start. The defending champion and record champion Gregor Stähli did not start due to illness. Daniel Mächler won his first championship title after being runner-up the previous year. The big difference in performance between the first four to five top athletes and the remaining starters was striking.

There were a total of three participants at the start. Defending champion and record champion Maya Pedersen-Bieri did not start because of a baby break. With Tanja Morel , an athlete who actually ended her career after last season won. She won her eleventh medal on her eleventh participation in a Swiss championship.
