Stefan Mörker

Stefan Mörker (born February 23, 1978 in Baden ) is a Swiss skeleton driver .

Stefan Mörker was initially a decathlete . In 1994 he became an Aargau master. In 2002, after he had to neglect athletics for reasons of study - Mörker studied electrical engineering at the FHA Windisch - he came to skeleton through a training colleague. He has been part of the Swiss national team since 2003. The Untersiggenthaler made his international debut as part of the Skeleton European Cup . In January 2003 he was 21st in Koenigssee . In November of that year he made his World Cup debut in Calgary (31st). In January 2004 he won the first World Cup points in Lillehammer as the 28th and started shortly afterwards at the European Skeleton Championships 2004 in Altenberg and reached 22nd place. It took two more seasons until Mörker was able to stabilize and improve his performance in the long term. In December 2007 he finished fifth in a European Cup race in Cesana Pariol and won bronze in the Swiss championship in January 2008 . He qualified for the World Cup and reached 22nd place in Königssee - his best result in the World Cup to date. At the European Skeleton Championships in 2008 , he finished eleventh. At the 2008 World Championships in Altenberg, Mörker was ranked 23rd. Since the 2008/09 season , he has mainly competed in the Skeleton Intercontinental Cup , the best result so far is a third place in Cesana, achieved in January 2009. Nationally, he won the silver medal in 2009 and 2010 the championships.
