The Swiss Society for Financial Market Research ( SGF ) is a Swiss society with the aim of promoting the exchange between academics and practitioners in the field of finance .

history

The company was founded in 1986 by Werner Rein together with a group of Swiss economists .

activities

In order to achieve the main objective of promoting modern finance and, above all, the interaction between academia and practice, the company publishes the journal Financial Markets and Portfolio Management four times a year and organizes the SGF Conference .

SGF Conference

The SGF Conference is a specialist meeting for direct exchange between academia and practice. It has been held every spring in Zurich since 1998 and deals with financial issues such as asset pricing, corporate finance , household finance , insurance and market structures. Contributions can be submitted until October of the previous year and are then subject to a review .

A pre-conference dinner will take place on the evening before the conference, followed by a keynote at the end . In the past, this speech has been given by Jean-Pierre Danthine , Zeno Staub (CEO of Vontobel AG ) and Renaud de Planta (CEO of Pictet Asset Management), among others . In addition, the best presented article was awarded the SIX Best Paper Award in recent years . This was sponsored by the SIX Swiss Exchange and included a cash prize of CHF 4,000  .

The management committee of the SGF Conference consists of eleven members. The chairman is Matthias Muck , who holds the chair for business administration at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg .

Board and members

The current president of the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research is Thomas Stucki . The board also includes Markus Schmid , editor of Financial Markets and Portfolio Management magazine , José Antonio Blanco as treasurer, and Michael Herold as managing director of the SGF Conference.

The society comprises 108 members from research and practice.
