Financial Markets and Portfolio Management (FMPM) is an academic journal for the financial industry .

The journal publishes scientific articles in all areas of finance, especially - but not only - in the areas of financial markets , portfolio theory and wealth management , asset pricing , corporate finance and management , alternative investments , risk management and regulation .

The main objective of the journal is to publish high quality articles on innovative research and practical applications. FMPM's readership consists of academics, economists, asset managers, financial analysts and other professionals in the financial and related fields.

Characteristics

FMPM appears quarterly and has been published by the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research (SGF) since 1987. Article submissions are checked using a double-blind peer review process before they are published. Approximately 10% of the submitted contributions will be accepted for publication.

Well-known authors of the magazine include a. Yakov Amihud , Stanley Fischer , Harry M. Markowitz , Merton H. Miller , Richard Roll , Stephen Ross , William F. Sharpe , Ingo Walter, and William T. Ziemba .

Editorial Board

Markus Schmid from the University of St. Gallen is the current editor of the journal. The editorial board consists of Manuel Ammann , Rolf Banz , Jonathan Berk , Wolfgang Bessler , Jean-Pierre Danthine , Wolfgang Drobetz , Günter Franke , William Fung , Dirk Hackbarth , Philippe Jorion , Francis Longstaff , Markus Rudolf , Christian Schlag , Paul Söderlind , Thomas Stucki , René M. Stulz , David Yermack and Heinz Zimmermann .

Best Paper Awards

Articles published in Financial Markets and Portfolio Management can win two prizes awarded annually. The FMPM Best Paper Award is given for the best article published in Financial Markets and Portfolio Management and includes a cash prize of CHF 4,000  . The ZKB Best Paper Award (until 2014: Swisscanto Award for the Best Professional Paper) is awarded for the best practice-oriented article. This prize is sponsored by Zürcher Kantonalbank and also includes a cash prize of CHF 4,000.

history

The magazine was first published in 1987 under the title “Finanzmarkt und Portfolio Management”, the editors were Martin Jetzer , Walter Wasserfallen , Heinz Zimmermann and Manuel Ammann. Markus Schmid is currently working in this role.

Since 2005, the journal has only contained English articles and is published by Springer.
