The Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Sciences (SGGMN) is the national trade association of Switzerland to promote the history of medicine and the history of science .

The society was founded in 1921, before the first chairs for the history of science were created in Switzerland. It is based in Bern . Henry E. Sigerist , its first secretary, stated that the association's mission was to “unite the historically interested doctors and naturalists of Switzerland”. The society currently sees itself as the professional association of professional medical and science historians in Switzerland with the aim of "promoting the history of medicine and science in Switzerland"; To this end, it would like to "create a platform for scientific exchange, organize conferences and promote young talent".

In 1922 the book series "Publications of the Swiss Society for the History of Medicine and Natural Sciences", which continued until 1990, was published. Its scientific organ is the specialist journal Gesnerus , founded in 1943 and funded by the Dr.- Markus-Guggenheim-Schnurr Foundation for the History of Medicine and Natural Sciences. The Henry E. Sigerist Prize for the promotion of young talent in the history of medicine and the natural sciences is awarded annually to promote young talent.
