The Swiss Technical College ( Schweizerische Technische Fachschule Winterthur , STFW for short ) is a higher technical college ( Technikerschule ) for advanced vocational training at the tertiary level in Winterthur .

history

During the economic crisis of the 1930s , the first Swiss vocational camp for unemployed young metal workers was opened on the site of the former Hard spinning mill in 1935. This example was followed by 94 other labor camps throughout Switzerland, including a further camp for electrical engineers, also in Hard. In 1942 another extension was built for auto mechanics. In 1946 the labor camps were taken over by the "Fachschule Hard" foundation, which organized further training courses for them there. The technical school stayed in Hard until 1962, after which it moved into a new building at its current location in the Schlosstal, but still in the Oberfeld district . In 1972 the school took its current name.
