The Swiss School Madrid (Spanish: Colegio Suizo de Madrid , CSM) is an international private school based on Swiss educational standards. It is located in Alcobendas , the autonomous community of Madrid , Spain .

Pedagogical structure

The school looks after and teaches children from pre-school to high school. The youngest at the age of 2 go to preschool; the elders graduate from grammar school with the Swiss Matura, which gives them access to universities in Europe and the rest of the world. The Spanish universities are also included, as the Swiss Matura is recognized as a selectivity grade by all Spanish universities.

The education of the students is based on Swiss multilingualism with German as the main and teaching language, English, French and Spanish. In German as a foreign language, the school offers the opportunity to acquire the German Language Diploma (DSD), Level II of the German Conference of Ministers of Education . This diploma enables access to German universities without an additional German language test for university entrance . The Cambridge First Certificate , B2 , and the Cambridge Advanced Certificate , C1, can be obtained in English and a DELF diploma in French .

The three pillars of the teaching are:

  • Academic competence
  • Social competence
  • Personal competence

Following a favorable initial verdict, the school was convicted by the Madrid court of insufficient presence in a 2006 bullying case. The school learned from this and has not had any such incidents since. In recent years, the school has proven to be a pioneer in the implementation of peer mediation models, as the school's own Peacemaker project shows.

additional offers

In addition to the lessons, the school offers various services including:

  • Restaurant Service: Offers menus for all children in the school. These menus are supervised by a nutritionist. In addition to fruit and dessert, it offers two main courses and two other side dishes that are prepared in the school's own kitchen.
  • Offering extracurricular activities: room supervised by a teacher for extracurricular "study" so that the students can do their homework, clarify ambiguities and learn. Other extracurricular activities such as "Spanish dance", "fencing" or "swimming" complement the program.
  • For the past 15 years, music lessons at the Swiss School in Madrid have been coordinated by the Collegium Musicum.
  • Library: There is a large selection of books and magazines, mainly in German, as well as videos and audio books.
  • Other services: parents' school, orientation department, student exchange with Switzerland and Germany.
