Sword swallowing
Swallowing the sword is a performance art in which the artist inserts a sword through his mouth into the esophagus or stomach . The name is actually misleading, as the acrobats have to suppress their nausea and not swallow the sword while it is in their throat .
Swallowing the sword is a life-threatening activity that, if unsuccessful, can result in serious medical complications.
