SciPlore MindMapping is a computer program that is primarily aimed at scientists and students . Using mind maps , users can structure their ideas, for example for scientific work . SciPlore MindMapping also imports bookmarks from PDF files and monitors directories on the hard drive for new files, making it suitable for managing large document collections. Integration with reference managers such as JabRef also enables references to be managed. Users can also automatically save their mind maps to the SciPlore server. Downloading is currently (as of November 2010) not yet possible because the web interface is still under development.
The software is a fork of the mind mapping software FreeMind and accordingly offers all the features of FreeMind. The file format is also compatible so that mind maps from one software can also be opened in the other software.
The development was stopped in favor of the follow-up project Docear , while FreeMind and the Fork FreePlane are being developed further.
